Commercial Accountant

We are partnering with a large, well-established international logistics business in Liverpool to recruit a Commercial Accountant to join their high-performing finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a fully qualified ACCA or CIMA accountant looking to step into a commercially focused role within a complex, fast-paced operational environment. The Role

Reporting into Senior Finance leadership, the Commercial Accountant will play a key role in supporting operational finance activities, delivering insightful reporting, and partnering with stakeholders across the organisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Producing monthly management accounts and operational performance reporting
• Reviewing operational costs and providing detailed variance analysis against budgets and forecasts
• Preparing accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Business partnering with operational and technical teams to support commercial decision-making
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Analysing financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement and cost control
• Supporting quarterly and year-end reporting processes
• Assisting with process improvement initiatives across finance and operations
• Supporting and mentoring junior finance team members
• Working collaboratively with international finance teams and operational stakeholders

There may be occasional international travel as part of the role.

About You:

To be considered, candidates must be:

• Fully qualified - ACCA or CIMA
• Experienced within management accounting, commercial finance, or operational finance
• Strong communicators with the ability to build relationships across non-finance teams
• Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Confident managing large volumes of financial data and delivering meaningful insights
• Comfortable working within a fast-paced, operationally focused business

Previous experience within logistics, shipping, transport, manufacturing, or other operational sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
