Shipping Operations Agent

A large shipping organisation in Liverpool are looking for a Shipping Operations Agent to join them on a permanent basis, assisting with the operations involved in vessels coming into and out of port.

The company is offering an excellent salary and benefits package, including a health care and a fantastic pension scheme. The successful candidate will ideally have previous husbandry experience however this is not essential.

Reporting to the Agency Manager, the Shipping Operations Agent will be responsible for:

• All aspects of administrative and operational ship agency for the smooth arrival and departure of vessels
• Liaising with port authorities, pilots, locks, tug boats and many other various parties for arranging services for dockings and sailings
• Preparing and completing cargo documentation i.e. bills of lading, manifests, stowage plans and all other required documentation
• Completing disbursement accounts and passing invoices for payment
• Keeping all parties advised of vessel progress with arrivals and departures, as well as liaison with ship Captains and personnel
• Arrange any necessary requirements during port calls, eg, crew changes, GP appointments, spares, repairs etc
• Flexibility with working hours is also a must due to the varying arrival, departure and duration of docking times encountered

Essential Requirements are:

• Full UK driving licence
• Some Freight Forwarding, Shipping or Logistics experience
• Be used to working under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Previous shipping agency work experience would be advantageous
